Temporary Hair Loss

Hair loss depends on numerous factors. If you have any of these conditions then you can rest assured that it is not permanent hair loss.

Most of these conditions can be overcome and then the hair growth takes place again.

1. Extreme Emotional Stress.

2. Acute stress to your body

Hair is shed in big amounts about 2 – 3 months after the stressful event. This includes illness, childbirth and surgeries.

3. Hormone changes

Most commonly with pregnancy, menopause or birth control pills.

4. Ageing

With age, hair starts to lose its color and most people also notice hair loss as hair growth slows.

5. Hair Care

If you color, straighten your hair or blow-dry your hair more frequently, you could be damaging your hair. Over time, this damage can lead to hair loss.

6. Nutritional deficiencies / Restrictive diets

Too little biotin, iron, zinc or protein intake will lead to hair loss.

7. Some Medications

Most commonly with; Steriods, drugs regulate blood pressure and drugs for thyroid diseases. However, stopping these medications can cause serious health problems.

8. Some diseases

Thyroid disease – People with thyroid problems often notice that their hair is more dry and have excess hair fall.

9. Chemotherapy for Cancer treatment

People may lose all (or most of) their hair within a few weeks of starting these treatments. Hair usually starts to regrow within months of finishing chemotherapy. Medications help hair grow back more quickly.
